In addition to formally objecting to the intensive poultry unit at Frochas Farm on the Powys County Council planning application website (full objection letter can be read here), Compassion in World Farming (CIWF) have circulated a mass mailer to its subscribers urging them to object to this factory.
CIWF stated the following on its mailer:
Frochas Farm, Welshpool, has applied to construct an intensive broiler chicken facility, consisting of 3 large sheds with 50,000 birds tightly crammed into each, which could confine over a million chickens per year. The animals, with floor space equivalent to an A4 sheet of paper, will be unable to express many of their natural behaviours. Instead, they’ll be grown as quickly as possible, with little to no regard for their welfare.
This cannot be the future of British farming.
As a local resident, please object to this planning application before the deadline which, as of today, is SUNDAY 11 AUGUST.
